Le Meilleur Film Français du Siècle!

I thought I would enlighten you all of possibly the best French film of the century! Jean-Luc Godard is an absolute genius.

The French New Wave Director was out of control in the prospering 50’s after the war. He brought Hollywood to Continental Europe, but definitely with its own artistic and much more sophisticated flair. The gorgeous leading male, Jean-Paul Belmondo in A Bout de Souffle is the epitome of a French Humphrey Bogart.

He steals T-Birds and Cadillacs, courts an American journalist and dresses like a Warner Brothers gangster. Wearing his loud Herringbone sportscoat and dangling a cigarette from his lips, he is the only worthy eye candy along the Champs Elysée.

His co-star, the stunning, Jean Seberg defines French elegance. We could speculate that the French patrician would have only worn the finest of perfumes. Available to Parisians in the 1960′s, Justine by Louis Féraud comes to mind, as does, Chanel, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent.

We still sing the praises of the French perfume industry. The gorgeous villages of Provence will forever be the birth place of such fine spices and be a romanticized escape each time we spray.  I personally love the French fragrances, especially the new Paris, by Yves Saint Laurent. And I can’t stress enough the necessity to see any of Godard’s films! A cultural trip to France in itself.

In fashion, style, films and perfumery, la France est la capitale culturelle du monde!
