Flying high

I was at the airport at 6am on Sunday morning.

I know, normally I only ever see this hour as I’m stumble out of a club, looking for the nearest Maccas.

But there I was on Sunday, waiting in the arrivals hall for my mum to appear from behind the frosted glass.

Said frosted glass had a huge ad for Duty Free shopping splashed across it.

It asked something like, “How much did they miss you?”

The answer to the question was apparently linked to how many duty free goods you were given.

They had a picture of Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium fragrance, which equalled “Missed you a bit”.

Then a pic of the perfume plus a bottle of Johnny Walker Red Label which equalled “Missed you a lot”.

And finally, a picture of the perfume, the bottle of Johnny Walker and a box of Cadbury Favourites, which equalled you were “Missed very much, never leaving you again.”

With this helpful scale, I intimated that I was “Not Missed A Bit” because all I received was a packet of 2 Arnotts biscuits mum hadn’t eaten on the plane.

But that’s because when mum had asked me whether or not I would like anything duty free, such as perfume, I laughed and shook my head.

Oh mother, you really are a scream! I thought to myself. Trust you to think that duty free shopping is still bargain basement. It’s not.

Take my sister’s fragrance of choice, Kenzo Flower, for instance. You can get 50ml of it duty free for 86 bucks. That’s not including your $2,000 air ticket BTW.

Or, you can just go online at Bonza Spice and order it with free delivery for $79.

And you know the best thing about ordering from Bonza Spice? You don’t have to wait until someone is travelling so you won’t need to get up at 6am in the morning. Unless of course you’re doing a Maccas run.

Love, Spicy
