Wrangler for Summer

The super cute and retro-tinged campaign for Wrangler’s summer collection – shot by Boo George.

A little too short? Short shorts, denim, pumps and crotchet tops. Wrangler campaign is fresh off the lens in the latest Australian advertising pitch, shot by legendary photographer, Boo George. Wrangler are fairly consistent with their classic rock n’ roll street-wear, usually inspired by their rebellious roots. The Irish photographer, George, captures this inspiration with soft lighting and sepia overtones. He has shot for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Topman, Vogue and the New York Times…he is apparently well known for specialising in denim. Who knew there was a skill to photographing denim? He is it.

A playful vibe with a feeling of nostalgia, rebellion and a little misbehaviour is the essence of this campaign. There is a blatant sexuality to the crop of the shorts with a pure adolescent apathy coming across. The best selling ‘Hi Cheeky’ short seems to be a retail eureka – especially the red wash Wranglers. The girls have a unique 70s feel with denim, lace and flares, while the boys are looking very nineties with denim button-ups, cigarette shorts and distressed cut-offs. Loving the retro feel of the campaign.
