The flame of Elizabeth Taylor will never die

Elizabeth Taylor may have sadly left us in March this year, yet her memory and impact on the world of fashion will be forever lit.

The unique and classic style of the late Elizabeth Taylor is now finding itself on the printed magazines and catwalks all over the globe. It seems that her style is now being translated and captured by established designers such as Fendi, Alice Temperley, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana.

Trends from earlier decades; whether it be 60s inspired colour, or simply the vintage craze in itself, are constantly recycled and altered to fit in with the ever-changing fashion of today, yet being able to honour a true style icon seems almost a greater step up. This opportunity to witness the fashion era that was ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ (with kudos to some of our favourite and talented designers of course), is so very very exciting and almost secures the promise that fashion will always live on.

We investigated the very style that made Elizabeth Taylor the iconic figure that she was; her dressed up moments, casual moments, and even for the moments that fell in between. She was full of elegance and glamour, which is exactly what Alice Temperley reflected in some of her Spring 2012 collection. The flowing nature of her pieces, as well as the cream shades proved to do perfect justice to Liz’s style.

Considering our summer is soon approaching, it seems more than fitting to fall in love with the swimwear collections of both Prada and Dolce & Gabbana. The reason these designers have become inspired by Liz’s swimsuit style, is mainly due to her role in the film ‘Suddenly, last summer’, where she appears looking picture perfect in a white swimsuit. The simplicity of her look, yet her ability to make it look as amazing as she does, is a true credit to her; one that only further illuminates why people fell in love with her look.

There is nothing better than seeing a womanly silhouette making its way down the runway, a look that is all too familiar of Liz Taylor. Her hourglass shape is one that has found itself on various runways all around the world, and it seems it would almost take less time to name those designers that have not at one time or another reflected this in their collections.

The passing of legends always creates a realm of sadness, yet it is so comforting to know that their legacy, and in this particular case, their passion for style has the capacity to live on forever.
