Cry me a river, JT is bringing sexy back with his delectable new ad campaigns for the French fashion house, Givenchy. Justin Timberlake knows how to play the part. The Givenchy man brought style, charm and a little ooohh la la to the streets of Paris recently for the launch of the new Givenchy scent, Play.
Sporting a two-tone blazer, JT proved to be the man of the hour. The combo was not at all complimented by his combat boots, very un-Givenchy, but as always he bewildered thousands and could get away with his absurd get-up. The President of Givenchy chose the singer, not for his star quality, but for his trendsetting modern elegance. Big call. What goes around seems to come around for our man Justin.
Not usually a fragrance guru, the 27 year-old admits he has a very unique taste when it comes to cologne. “I’m sort of a minimalist, quintessential male. I like pretty fresh, clean scents. I don’t like a barrage of smell.” It was for this reason that Givenchy took it as a challenge to create something that JT would really like to wear. C’est parfait! The perfected fragrance was created by perfumers Lucas Sieuzac and Emilies Coppermann, with Françoise Donche, the creative director at Parfums Givenchy. The clean smell seems to come from the base Caribbean amyris wood (this is a soft wood, similar to a sandalwood or a cedar note, very fresh!)
Tom Munro, an absolute genius.
The fashion photographer shot three separate ads for Givenchy, featuring JT listening to music on a balcony, in a private jet and of course in the music studio.
Aside from Givenchy photo shoots, Parisian launches and parading the Champs Elysees, JT is currently working on his ready-to-wear line, William Rast, music-producing and acting projects.
The most famous patron of the brand is the classic and delicately elegant female figure, otherwise known as Audrey Hepburn. Hubert de Givenchy and the dazzling star of Breakfast at Tiffany’s together invented the “Givenchy style”, in which French elegance meets American glamour. Givenchy created his first fragrance, L’Interdit, in homage to the charming young star of American cinema.

Givenchy was a French aristocrat and fashion designer who founded The House of Givenchy, he was famous for having designed the personal and professional wardrobe of Audrey Hepburn, as well as clothing for clients such as Jacqueline Kennedy. The extremely refined designs were purely aesthetic. He never thought of the skirt in action, whether it was wide enough to walk in, or how the wearer would look getting into and out of a taxi…
“I consider the beauty and artistic value of a fashion, not its utility.”
From rags and cloths, Givenchy created masterpieces which became the dresses of high society in France. The vision of Monsieur de Givenchy has always expressed the gentleman’s attitude, nourished by culture, savoir-vivre and opulence.
