Christian Dior Does its first show without John Galliano

Christian Dior is determined to prove that it is business as usual without its head Couture Designer John Galliano. Galliano was sacked from Dior amid allegations of anti-Semitic abuses in February. Galliano was at the helm of Dior for over 15 years.

The Guardian reports that Bill Gaytten and Susanna Venegas, the head of the Dior design team took a bow at the end of the show, suggesting that the 36 pieces were designed by a collection of in-house designers at Dior. It was clear from the show that there was no lead designer or clear vision rather an eclectic miss match of designs by more than one designer. “We are used to being eclectic,” Gaytten said in a statement after the show. It was a disappointing attempt at what was to be a pivotal show for the brand.

It is clear from this show that it will not be as easy to find a replacement for Galliano as it was at Alexander McQueen, where former right hand man Sarah Burton quickly stepped up and filled the shoes of the legendary designer.
