Why you need to ditch your daily coffee

Confession: I’m rarely seen typing away at my desk without a takeaway coffee cup close-by. Let’s face it, working in a desk job can be monotonous when you’ve got hours of typing ahead of you for the day, and grasping a warm cup of sweetly flavoured brew (I’m known to be a bit of a mocha addict) and intermittently sipping away as you bash at the keyboard tends to break up the day a bit.

But what do all those daily coffee runs add up to? As it turns out, a great deal of calories – which, over the year can add up to as much as a 5 kilo weight gain! So how can you dial back on the cals and still break up the day? Try these easy swaps for decidedly more virtuous sipping…

Swap it!
SWAP: Tall mocha = 394 calories
FOR: Small black coffee = 6 calories

SWAP: Tall skim caramel macciato = 168 calories
FOR: Tall skim cappacino = 75 calories

SWAP: Tall café latte = 272 calories
FOR: Tall black tea = 2 calories

SWAP: Caramel latte = 230 calories
FOR: Skim flat white = 124 calories

Hold the sugar
That spoon of sugar you add to your coffee can really weigh you down over time…
SWAP: One sugar = 46 calories
FOR: One equal = 1 calorie

I reluctantly read this article (just started my second coffee for the day) and I really just love coffee too much! I refuse to add up the calories because it will just make me feel worse... maybe next years resolution...?
